Auto News . Buick has announced the changes to the 2013 Buick Regal, which was recently named the "Best Upscale Midsize Car for Families" by U.S. News and World Report.
The 2013 Buick Regal GS is will be available with a six-speed automatic with Driver Shift Control. The automatic is a no-cost option if buyers do not want the standard six-speed manual. The Regal GS is powered by a 270-hp turbocharged 2.0L Ecotec engine. It will reach 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds with either transmission.
The non-turbo Regal models will now get eAssist standard for the 2013 model year, which signals the discontinuation of the 2.4L base model. The eAssist system uses a small lithium-ion battery pack and a small electric motor that adds 15 more horsepower to the 2.4L engine. The Regal with eAssist gets up to 36 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city.
