2013 Acura ILX Officially Debuts in Chicago

Auto News . Following the unveiling of the ILX concept at the Detroit Auto Show last month, Acura has taken the wraps off the production version that will go on sale this spring.

The 2013 Acura ILX compact sedan is position as a gateway model to the Acura brand. It's based on the Honda Civic and has three different powertrain options. The base engine is a 2.0L four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and 140 lb-ft. of torque. It's mated to a five-speed automatic and gets 24/32 mpg. The most powerful ILX is powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. of torque that's mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It gets up to 29 mpg. The ILX also sees the introduction of Acura's first hybrid. The ILX Hybrid is powered by a 1.5L engine and an Integrated Motor Assist electric motor that is paired to a CVT. The system has a total output of 111 horsepower and 127 lb-ft. of torque. The ILX Hybrid is rated at 35/38 mpg.

The ILX will come standard with features like a a standard Keyless Access System with smart entry and pushbutton start, Pandora radio and an SMS text message function. An available Premium Package features leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, an upgraded 360 watt stereo system, a rear view camera and an Active Sound Cancellation system. The Technology Package adds Acura's ELS audio system, a navigation system with voice recognition and rear-time traffic rerouting.

The 2013 ILX will be produced in Greensburg, Indiana.
